The Croxton Kerrial Manor House Project

Our project is for the consolidation, preservation, interpretation and display to the public of the remains of the medieval manor house at Croxton Kerrial. The physical remains will be consolidated, disabled access paths and car parking built and interpretation boards installed showing reconstruction drawings of the buildings. The land will be leased on a 10 year renewable lease and the work and ongoing maintenance of the site will be carried out by the Croxton Kerrial Heritage Trust, which includes among its Trustees local residents, members of the Framland Archaeology Group (the voluntary group who excavated the site),  and the Croxton Kerrial Parish Council .
Volunteers within the local community will be involved in both the construction work and the research to inform the interpretation of the site. Community involvement and engagement in local heritage will be increased by talks and guided visits at local venues. In particular the younger generation will be involved by school visits and talks together with finds handling sessions.
This project will both preserve and protect the physical remains of the site whilst increasing local and regional engagement in local heritage. It will also contribute to local community cohesion and economic development.

The project has been generously supported by a National Lottery Heritage Fund Grant.TNLHLF_Colour_Logo_English_RGB_0_0
